I bought this home in 2011. It is the perfect representation about how terribly bank owned properties have been handled. The previous owners had a reverse mortgage on this house, and the occupant left for good when she was put into a nursing home. The bank allowed the pipes to freeze and the house was being taken over by mold. The basement had a few inches of water. Before I bought it, I had the place tested for nasties. With a clean bill of health We gutted the entire upstairs and most of the downstairs. New plumbing, mostly new electric and we put a system in to prevent water from coming in downstairs. I never thought I would sell the house. I renovated it for my daughter who is chemically sensitive. We had no carpet in the house and love VOC everything.
In 2018, my daughter moved out of the house and we decided to sell. I had wanted to reopen the front porch but encountered some resistence. But once we did that, we saw all of the craftsman details that are just so thrilling. We restored the property and its authentic details including exposed rafters and craftsman corbels that gives the porch an archway look.
