Because of the proximity to NYC, many artists made their way to this area to avail themselves of the quiet and bucolic settings they were searching for. The Bush-Holley house in Old Greenwich and Weir Farm that straddles Wilton and Ridgefield, are both National historic sites, and both well known for their contribution to American Impressionism.
